I currently serve as the Director of College and Career Readiness for the Desert Sands Unified School District. I am responsible for supporting all 8 indicators on the California Dashboard College/Career Readiness.
I spent four years at Palm Desert High School serving as the Assistant Principal of Career Technical Education. Working with teachers, we updated all CTE curriculum to meet the A-G admission requirements for the University of California. The Health Careers Academy, Engineering, and Business Pathways enrollment grew to more that 30% of the student population. In addition, we added a new Film & Broadcasting program for students interested in a career in film production and management.
I served for 17 years working with students as a classroom teacher at Redlands High School. I taught a Perkins approved Arts Media and Entertainment Program of Study in Media Arts. I designed the curriculum for the entire media arts program. I was the teacher and advisor for the Digital Dogz. I also taught English and Screenwriting. I served as the Career Technical Education Department Chair, and was an active member of the leadership team through two WASC accreditation cycles. I also taught a variety of courses in the Preliminary Teacher Credential Program at the University of Redlands. I launched my teaching career at Royal Oak Middle School teaching drama.
